The Paradise Coastmen Barbershop Chorus, Naples/Fort Myers own, has entertained local audiences for 40 years. Our repertoire includes Broadway hit songs, popular songs from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, upbeat Gospel and songs honoring special occasions such as, St. Patrick’s Day and St. Valentine’s Day.
The chorus has an average of 8-10 private performances each year as well as our community events and performances described below.
The Paradise Coastmen Barbershop Chorus is a membership organization, whose members are amateur singers committed to chorus performances at a quality level. The chorus sings a cappella , without instruments, and is open to all male singers of appropriate quality.
The applicant process includes a voice placement with one of our directors. You are welcome to attend rehearsals as a guest or an applicant.
Director, Jim Shubert
Our director, Jim Shubert has been a barbershopper since 1967. He has been directing barbershop choruses for over 25 years. Jim is both a composer and arranger and a life long quartet singer. He is the bass in our chapter quartet, Tropical Depressions. Jim's philosophy is "Let's sing well and have fun doing it".
We rehearse at 6:30 PM Thursday evenings at Our Savior Lutheran Church, which is located at 1955 Curling Avenue in Naples, Florida. This is just south of Immokalee Road on the east side of Airport-Pulling Road.
You can see the church off Airport-Pulling Road, but the entrance is Curling Avenue.
Regular rehearsals are open to any and all guests, who want to participate or just watch. We will provide you with a guest music book and place you next to a strong singer of your voice part to make your visit more enjoyable.
